Lately, there's been this cool trend to cut back on our use of regular paper products. We're looking for tree-free products for everything from toilet paper to paper towels, and they're much better for the environment. Bamboo paper towels are one of those products that are really catching on because they have a whole lot of benefits.

Instead of being made from wood pulp like regular paper towels, bamboo paper towels are entirely tree-free and 100% biodegradable.

In addition, bamboo is an extremely renewable resource that grows quickly without having to resort to using harmful chemicals or pesticides. As more people become aware of how conventional paper products devastate the planet, bamboo paper towels will undoubtedly grow even more popular.

Bambus, is our very own eco-friendly, sustainable option that has 20 perforated tear sheets in a single roll and each of these rolls replaces 60 standard paper towel rolls on average. It fits on a standard paper towel dispenser and is available in a plastic-free package.

The benefits of using bamboo paper towels

So, there are lots of reasons why bamboo paper towels are better to use than normal ones.

Firstly, bamboo is a renewable resource, so by using these towels, you're actually conserving resources. Also, bamboo grows really quickly and requires very little water or any chemical fertilizers, making it a much more sustainable option than other products.

Bamboo paper towels are more absorbent than normal paper towels, making them fantastic for wiping up spills and cleaning, and you'll use less each time, too. They're also super soft and kind to skin, making them brilliant for those with sensitive skin.

Bamboo paper towels are an excellent method of reducing waste. Instead of simply throwing away dirty paper towels, you can reuse them by washing. This significantly lowers the volume of garbage sent to landfills and incinerators. The majority of them are free from plastic and more durable, so they are a much better sustainable alternative.

Why I don't use regular paper towels

To be honest, I was never a big fan of paper towels. When I moved to Canada many years ago, one of the culture shocks was the "throw away" attitude of North Americans. I've witnessed on many occasions littIe spills being tuckled with a hand full of paper towel and ending up in garbage seconds later. It didn't seem right to me that such a small task should generate so much waste, so I decided to look for alternatives.

Some of the other reasons I switched to bamboo towels is that of the environmental impact of production of tree based paper towels. Here are some quick facts I found:

  • If every household in the United States replaced just one roll of virgin fiber paper towels (70 sheets) with 100 percent recycled ones, we could save 544,000 trees
  • Every day, over 3,000 tons of paper towel waste is produced in the US alone
  • To make one ton of paper towels, 17 trees are cut down and 20,000 gallons of water are consumed
  • Decomposing paper towels produce methane gas. Methane gas is a leading cause of global warming

There are many alternatives out there, such us Swedish cellulose dish clothes, tree free paper towels, unpaper towels and of course bamboo towels.

How are bamboo paper towels made

Tree free paper towels are made from bamboo viscose, which is a type of bamboo fiber. Bamboo is broken down into smaller pieces, and these pieces are then put into a machine along with chemicals. The chemicals help to separate the bamboo fibers from other substances found in the plant, and the fibers are turned into pulp.

The pulp is then cleaned and whitened, usually with the use of bleach. It is then run through several more machines that bond the pulp together, flatten it out, and dry it.

The different ways you can use bamboo reusable paper towels

Bamboo paper towels can be used for a variety of tasks, from cleaning up spills to wiping down surfaces. Great uses for the kitchen, bathroom, car, garage or travel. Either household or commercial, use it for mopping, cleaning, dusting or wiping. Can be used wet or dry.

Household Cleaning: Bamboo reusable paper towels can be used for all your house cleaning needs. From dusting to mopping, they'll get the job done while helping to reduce your environmental impact. They can even be used on a Swifer as a duster, or to clean your windows and mirrors.

Personal Care: Bamboo paper towels are also great for personal care tasks like applying makeup or cleaning glasses. They can be even used as napkins. They're gentle on your skin and won't leave behind any lint or streaks.

Shop Towels: Bambus can also be used as heavy duty bamboo towels. They absorb oil and dirt well and can be washed and reused multiple times. Plus, they're durable enough to stand up to heavy-duty tasks like automotive repairs.

Why bamboo is a renewable resource

Bamboo is a renewable resource because it is one of the fastest growing plants that doesn't require much water or fertilizer to grow. Additionally, bamboo doesn't need to be replanted after it's harvested, so it doesn't put strain on the environment.

As more people switch to using bamboo products, the demand for bamboo will increase. This will incentivize farmers to grow more bamboo, which will help to conserve the resources. Additionally, bamboo can be used to create a variety of products, so it's a versatile resource that can be used in many different ways.

How bamboo paper towels compare to regular paper towels

Bamboo paper towels are a great alternative to regular paper towels. For starters, as mentioned above, paper towels made from bamboo are more eco friendly option than regular paper towels. Although the process of making both is pretty similar, the raw materials is where the difference lies. Bamboo pulp is much more sustainable material than wood pulp.

Most everyone has experienced the frustration of a flimsy paper towel tearing in the middle of a clean-up job. It's even worse when you're trying to be eco-friendly and use less paper. Bamboo paper towels are the solution to this problem. They are sturdier and more absorbent than traditional paper towels, meaning that you can get more use out of one piece. In fact, you may be able to use just one bamboo towel for days at a time. Not only are they better for the environment, but they will also save you money in the long run.

So next time you reach for a paper towel, make sure it's a bamboo one.

Best of all, they are completely reusable - each towel can be washed and used up to 100 times. That's right, 100 uses per towel! Whether you're washing by hand or in the machine, bamboo towels can stand up to the task. So ditch those disposable paper towels and make the switch to bamboo towels - your wallet and our planet will thank you.

How to wash bamboo paper towels

Bamboo towels are an earth-friendly, money-saving alternative to disposable paper products. But what about the ick factor? Reusable paper towels can harbour bacteria, especially if they're used to clean up spills or wipe down counters. But don't worry, there's an easy way to keep them clean and fresh - just pop them in the washing machine!
